Gianumberto Accinelli

Dear guests, I was born 1969 in Bologna and I decided to vow my life to the study of insects a few years later, when during a university entomology lesson I came to know that the cave-dwelling beetles are cryptometabols.

Committed in my believing and animated by an ecological spirit, I achieved the degree in agriculture and the ph.D in experiments on biological control with the Biological Control Group of professor Giorgio Celli and professor Stefano Maini. In 2005, I founded Eugea.

I share my passion with anyone who wants to turn nature into a beautiful narration holding “eco-narration” projects, and I currently am involved as a scientific divulgator at schools, companies and institutions.

I also am the author of numerous books including “The wonderful life of butterflies”, “The wonderful life of the bees” and “The invisible threads of nature”.

The latter book was also published in Germany, China and Spain. Moreover, on October 30, 2018, this book won the prestigious Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis award.

As a radio broadcasting aficionado, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to join “Il volo del mattino” by Radio Deejay every Thursday morning and “Ovunque6” by Rai Radio 2 every Saturday morning. My word, I love to illustrate the wonderful world of nature in such a lively environment!

If you prefer, you can also find me on television, as a regular tv-guest on the Rai 3 Geo & Geo broadcast, and every friday I tell stories about animals on TV 2000.

In 2012 I also personally edited a column on Rai 1 “Uno Mattina Estate”.
